Norwich 69, Chenango Forks 34

CHENANGO FORKS – Norwich is still unbeaten in 2013.

The Purple Tornado registered their most lopsided victory of the season Friday night at Chenango Forks, and stretched their winning streak to six games. During the winning streak, Norwich has won by double digits each time, and no opposing team has reached the 40-point mark.

“Our goal on defense was to hold them under 40,” said Norwich coach Tom Collier, whose club now sports an 11-3 record.

Norwich offset a 32 percent shooting night with 30 made free throws in 42 attempts. Danny Carson was 8-for-8 from the foul line in the first half alone scoring 10 of his 14 points, and Mike Sutton added 11 of his 13 as Norwich opened a 36-20 halftime lead.

“They hung with us pretty well in the first quarter,” Collier said. “The difference was that they switched from zone to man-to-man (defense), and I think that was a mistake. That’s why we got to the foul line so much.”

Norwich’s starting lineup was done for the day by the end of the third quarter with the lead swelling to 21 points. Over the final eight minutes, the Purple reserves padded the advantage. Matt Burke scored 12 of his season-best 13 points over the final eight minutes, and Michael D’Abbraccio netted all eight of his points.
