United Way inches toward goal

NORWICH – While the Chenango United Way races toward the year-end deadline of its annual fundraising campaign, it’s getting a little extra boost from local businesses like Price Chopper in Norwich, which is contributing more this year than it ever has.

Employees of the local Price Chopper Supermarket commit funds to the United Way every year, according to Price Chopper Manager Myles Johnson; but this year, the store reached a new milestone with 71 percent – nearly three quarters of its total 142 employees – pitching in to help the agency that does so much for the

community.

Price Chopper also administered a successful point of purchase strategy in August, when every shopper who passed through check-out was asked if they would contribute to the Chenango United Way. United Way Campaign Associate Dale Losee said the effort was huge in helping the agency inch toward its $444,000 goal by the Dec. 31 deadline.
