Norwich home destroyed in Monday blaze

NORWICH The Norwich, New Berlin and North Norwich fire departments, aided by the Chenango County Bureau of Fire, responded to a residence fire at 722 State Highway 320 in the Town of Norwich Monday, forcing traffic to shut down for more than two hours while crews knocked out the blaze.

Four children and one adult were woken from a nap by a sounding smoke detector inside their trailer. All were able to get out before their home was engulfed by flames. No injuries were reported.
