Letter to the Editor: McBride a tireless community servant

Editor,

I was asked the other day who I was giving my support to in the upcoming race for County Court Judge. Without hesitation, I told the man asking that my vote was going to Joe McBride.

A County Court Judge presides over County Court, Family Court and Surrogate Court; Mr. McBride has over 20 years of experience in Chenango County participating in all three of these areas of law. He opened a private practice in Norwich in 1990, in which he developed wide-ranging experience in Count, Supreme, Family and Surrogate Courts. In 1999, he began serving as the Chenango County District Attorney. As District Attorney, he has prosecuted over 1,500 felonies at almost a 100% conviction rate for 2011. His experience has continued on until the people spoke, asking Mr. McBride to take on the monumental task of running for County Court Judge.

He deserves every vote, too. Never have I met anyone who serves his community so tirelessly. Mr. McBride has served on numerous boards and committees in Chenango County and the surrounding areas. Most noteworthy in my opinion are the Chenango County Youth Board, the Multidisciplinary Force for the Benefit of Abused Children, Hospice of Chenango County, and the Justice and Advocacy for the Victims of Crime Program. McBride is not just involved by way of committees and boards though; he ventures out into the surrounding communities as well. Just last month he took the time to come to the Earlville Community Days and join in the fun with the rest of the residents.

I strongly encourage you to vote for Joseph McBride. His strength is in his years of experience in protecting the residents of Chenango County ... Experience does make a difference.

William Excell

Mayor of Earlville
