The Campbell Brothers bringing “sacred steel” to East Park stage

NORWICH – From the sanctuary to the stage, the sacred steel stylings of The Campbell Brothers are coming to town as the Chenango Blues Association presents the third installment of its popular Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. Thursday in East Park.

Sacred steel – an African-American spiritual tradition for more than 60 years – is a unique blend of gospel, blues and soul; a genre that’s swept the nation over the past decade thanks to acts such as Robert Randolph and the Family Band and The Campbell Brothers. It’s a compelling mixture of music and spirituality, according to brothers Chuck and Darick Campbell, an “integral part of worship and a vital, if little known, American tradition.”

Said Chenango Blues Association President Eric Larsen, who’s experienced the inspirational act firsthand, “It’s very unique ... they have a fantastic sacred steel tradition and they put on a great show.”
