NORWICH Four individuals charged with a variety of felony crimes were sentenced in Chenango County Court Friday and Monday, while another three during their arraignments pleaded not guilty.
The following individuals appeared in county court Friday:
Shinyrra K. Legrand-Thomas, 19, Syracuse, pleaded not guilty to three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Legrand-Thomas was originally charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance a class B felony unlawful possession of marijuana and second degree criminal nuisance following an alleged incident that occurred on Dec. 20, 2011, at a Norwich hotel.
Her bail was set at $10,000 and she will re-appear in court at a later date.
Nathaniel Cosby, 37, Syracuse, pleaded not guilty to charges of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (two counts), a class B felony, criminal tampering with evidence, an E felony, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, an A misdemeanor.
Cosby was indicted in March, accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing four individually wrapped baggies of cocaine with an aggregate weight of 17.55 grams, as well as 224 glassine envelopes of the narcotic heroin, with the intent to sell. The charges stem from a Dec. 20, 2011 incident that occurred at a Norwich hotel when Cosby in an attempt to destroy the drugs and avoid arrest tried to flush them down the toilet.
