Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra set to hit East Park stage tomorrow

NORWICH – For more than 30 years, the 11-piece ensemble that is Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra has performed on hundreds of stages across the country, entertaining thousands with its original blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, from salsa to merengue, cha-cha and bomba, plena and Latin jazz. On Thursday, the band will bring its talents to Chenango County once again, the second installment of the Chenango Blues Association’s Summer Concert Series.

This will be the group’s second performance as part of the Summer Concert Series (they performed in 2006), and Chenango Blues Association President Eric Larsen said he’s excited to bring Torres and his bandmates back. He said he first saw the group at the Syracuse Jazz Festival years ago and was wowed by the musical talent the band put on display.

“I love doing these kinds of shows,” he added. “We try to introduce as much variety as we can and present music that people may not have had an opportunity to hear ... where else are you going to go in Chenango County to hear Latin music?”
