NORWICH – A Town of Norwich man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speed over 55 in zone, failure to comply, speed not reasonable and prudent, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance, refusal to take a breath test, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana following an early morning pursuit on Sunday by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Ryan R. Healey, 34, allegedly passed a sheriff’s deputy on County Highway 10A in the Town of Preston travelling at 107 miles per hour, nearly twice the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour. It’s then alleged that Healey attempted to evade police, turning onto a secondary road before driving off the roadway. According to authorities, he then exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby section of forest where he was eventually apprehended.

Healey was arraigned in the Town of Preston Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Preston Court at a later date.
