Anne Hills, modern folk at 6 On The Square Saturday

OXFORD – 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to welcome the award winning, contemporary folk music icon, Anne Hills on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.! Anne’s beautiful, strong soprano voice is enthralling, and her passionate lyrics will move you with their sincerity. This past winner of the “Best of Bound for Glory” award and numerous others incorporates country, blues, and jazz styles. Blend in her musical background, and it’s no wonder that this gifted singer-songwriter has been one of the major forces in American folk music for several decades.



Anne was born in Moradabad, India, the third daughter of educational missionaries. Raised in Michigan, she attended Interlochen Arts Academy where she formed her first folk trio. She was also the female vocalist with the Big Band that turned out future jazz greats Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer and Chris Brubeck. She moved to Chicago’s fertile folk scene in 1976 and co-founded the folklore center Hogeye Music, still a force in the Chicago music scene.
