Seamus Kennedy: Music and mirth at Six on the Square in Oxford Saturday

OXFORD - On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to welcome back the very talented (and fun), Seamus Kennedy. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Seamus has been entertaining audiences all over the United States for almost four decades. This master showman, or “Irish Troubadour” of exceptional musical skills and unmatched repartee, has received the WAMA distinction of “Best Irish/Celtic Male Vocalist” from 1993 to 2006.

Seamus was first influenced by the legendary Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and from them he learned the importance of not only being a solid musician and singer, but also of being an all-round entertainer. That Seamus has done; ongoing audience interaction is his trademark. From the moment he steps on stage, he starts talking to his audience - and he encourages them to talk back. He is quick with a quip, and likes nothing better than to discover someone in the audience who is similarly inclined. Fast-paced humor is very much a part of what Seamus does, whether he’s telling a hilarious series of rapid-fire jokes or launching into a lyrical parody.
