Anthony Rizzo pitched three scoreless innings for the win. He worked out of a one-out bases loaded jam in the eighth inning to keep his team’s victory hopes alive.

“It was a great game, and our kids have nothing to be ashamed of,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks. “It was a tough one for Mike (Wilson, S-E pitcher) to lose.”

Wilson pitched all nine innings and allowed just four hits in the loss.

The Marauders’ lone run came in the fourth, and it was an answer to Clinton’s first run in the top half of the inning. Carter Cole singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Cole scored on Mick Khoury’s single to right field.

S-E hosts Mount Markham on Friday.
