Norwich 9, Sidney 1

SIDNEY – Norwich senior Ben Barnes won his third decision in as many starts Thursday afternoon – all on the road – limiting Sidney to three hits in the Tornado’s non-league victory.

Barnes, who started the season with a no-hitter, had his third complete game as he struck out 11, walked two, and gave up just one earned run. “It was another solid pitching performance by Barnes,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “Combined with a complete team effort at the plate, we were able to move runners over and we had a lot of guys with big days.”

Colby Griffin hit a three-run double in the second that lifted the Norwich lead to 4-0. Griffin finished 3-for-4 with five RBI. Grady Thompson was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Barnes had two hits and a ribbie, and catcher John Yacano was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
