Monday Evening Musical Club Celebates 'Music In Our Schools' Month
Published: March 9th, 2012

Help celebrate ‘Music in our Schools Month’ with The Monday Evening Musical Club on Monday, March 12, 2012. The concert is at United Church of Christ at 11 W. Main Street, Norwich, and will begin at 7:30 PM. This annual event is a popular favorite as the club invites music teachers from throughout Chenango County to showcase the talented students in their programs.

‘Music in our Schools’ had its beginnings in 1973, right here in New York State, with a daylong celebration. In the mid-1980s it expanded to a week-long celebration and grew to encompass more states. In 1985, March was officially declared ‘Music in our Schools Month’ and has been a platform to showcase how important music is to students of all ages ever since.

As always, Music Club concerts are free and open to the public. We accept free will donations and 100% of the money collected goes directly into our scholarship fund. Since 1954, Music Club has awarded scholarships to talented Chenango County students who plan to study music in college.

Join us on March 12th for selections from ‘Aida’ performed by cast members of the Norwich High School Musical, the Norwich Middle School Jazz Ensemble led by Jamie Carrier and Don Burke, and much more!
