DVD Patrol

We’re Here, Patrollers! Two specials and the Toddster is here once again with some movies for the Patrol. I hope everyone enjoyed the Nicholas Cage and “Remembering the Movies I watched with Mom” specials that we’ve had the past few weeks. As I promised, back to business with some new movies that have come out. Let’s see what there is.

New On DVD

Footloose (2010) - It’s never easy picking up and moving to a different place. Ren McCormick (Kenny Womald) and his Mom moved out of Boston for a change of pace. Ren ran with a pretty mean crowd at one time. When he gets to Bomont, this little town is certainly a change of pace. While Ren is getting used to his new surroundings, he meets a number of people including a feisty one named Ariel (Julianne Hough). Her father also happens to be the local Minister Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid). Ren also finds out that there are laws against loud music and dancing after a group of local teenagers were killed a few years ago. Ren makes the decision that the laws need to be changed but faces an uphill battle. Can he find a way to win over the Town including Ariel? Hough can be seen starring with Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages” in theaters this Summer.

Story Continues Below Adverts

Immortals - Life can change for people in an instant. For Theseus (Henry Cavill), this couldn’t be more true. King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his forces have been on a campaign looking for an ancient weapon that will give him rule over the Gods and the World. One of the villages that Hyperion and his forces come through they kill all of the townspeople including Theseus’s mother. Theseus decides Hyperion needs to be stopped and the only way to do this is to find the weapon before they . Theseus also finds a ragtag band of warriors to help him. Will they be able to stop Hyperion before it’s too late? Cavill also becomes another character from Mythology of a sort when he dons the cape of Superman in “The Man of Steel” set for release in Summer 2013.

Also on DVD

Justice League: Doom - No one likes to see their plans get changed. Especially if you’re Batman. Batman has always planned for the worst. Even making plans if the Justice League should ever turn Evil. Vandal Savage puts a team and a plan together to take down the Justice League and stealing Batman’s plans seems the way to go. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the test of the league have always trusted Batman with their lives. Is their trust going to be broken when they find out about the plans he had and that they were stolen. Can the team find a way to win? The next movie coming to DVD shelves will be “Superman VS The Elite” this Summer.

Now In Theaters

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - Jobs always take their toll when you’ve been doing them for a few years. For Johnny Blaze (Nicholas Cage), this couldn’t be more true. Some years ago, Johnny made a deal to save his Father. You always want to read the fine print of a contract. His Father ends up getting killed and Johnny becomes the “Ghost Rider.” As the Ghost Rider, Johnny takes down the guilty that prey on the innocent. Years later, Johnny is visited by Moreau (Idris Elba) who can lift his curse. All Johnny has to do is protect a young man named Danny Ketch (Fergus Riordan). Danny has been selected to be the next vessel for the Devil on Earth. Will Johnny be able to save Danny and himself?

The Toddster’s Take - This one was a great ride. Seeing Cage select another sequel on this one was terrific and he plays the tortured soul really well. The cast was incredible and the story has a lot of great moments. Can’t wait for the DVD. Catch this one.

The Toddster always lives up to his promises. I do see another teamup on the horizon. What we do is just another surprise. The TV season is also winding down for another year and a few TV shows look like they’re going to make for another year. Just some stuff to think about that’s on the way. I’ll see you next time.
