Eight Arraigned In County Court; $20,000 Bail For One After Alleged Assault

NORWICH – Eight individuals indicted on a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges entered not guilty pleas in County Court Friday and Monday, with one of those remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail after an alleged assault that occurred as he was being escorted out of court.

• Dustin W. Boyles, 26, of Norwich, first appeared in County Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree assault, a class D felony, and third degree assault, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from his alleged attack on a Valley Ridge Center for Intensive Treatment Facility employee. A resident of the CIT, Boyles was instructed to refrain from any violent behavior following his arraignment on Friday. However, as he was escorted out of the Chenango County Office Building, Doyles allegedly assaulted a CIT employee, leading to another court appearance Monday.

Yesterday, Boyles was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail pending his next court appearance.

• Joshua W. Quinn, 19, of Sherburne, pleaded not guilty to charges of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor.
