McDermott passes 1,000 career points

CAZENOVIA – Cazenovia College junior, Megan McDermott (Greene, Greene H.S) surpassed the 1,000-point career scoring mark Saturday afternoon in a season-ending 61-57 loss to Cobleskill.

McDermott, needing 18 points for 1,000, scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out six assists in a fine all-around effort.

McDermott led Cazenovia in scoring, rebounding, and minutes played per game this season, and started all 24 games. Before her final game she was averaging 13.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 35 minutes played per contest. “It’s hard to find a player who works as hard as Megan does,” said Cazenovia women’s basketball coach, Christopher Comino. “Even when she has an off night shooting the ball, she will still score 15 points because she just outhustles everyone and never gives up.”
