This is the one that we’ve been leading up to. The DVD Patrol has been pretty busy for the past year and after it’s all said and done. The Toddster has brought out his favorites for 2011. Some might agree with it and others will not but the Toddster has the last word. All our picks are now available on DVD and here we go in counting down.
5. The Mechanic - One of the Toddster’s favorite action guys brings in an old favorite with a new spin. Based on the original one that starred Charles Bronson, Jason Statham plays Arthur Bishop. A mechanic who’s good at his job but he’s not your run of the mill guy who works on cars. He takes assignments that require a specific skill set and he makes killing people look like an art form. His World gets turned upside down when he’s asked to kill his best friend Harry (Donald Sutherland). After he does, Bishop takes his son Steven (Ben Foster) under his wing and train him to make up for killing his father. Bishop’s bosses aren’t sure about this one. Bishop later finds out he was lied to and they decide to put a hit out on him. Will Bishop with his new partner find a way to survive? Statham has a busy 2012 with two movies on the way including “Safe” coming out in February 2012 and “The Expendables 2” heading into theaters this Summer with Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger just to name a few.
4. Fast Five - It’s hard for sequels to get better but for some reason these seem to be doing the job. Brian O’connor (Paul Walker) and his girlfriend Mia (Jordana Brewster) get some friends together and decide to spring Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) out of prison. They separate and some time later find themselves in Rio De Janiero. They decide to heist some cars that belong to the top drug boss down there and this might not have been such a good idea. Brian and Dom manage to get away but for them to be truly free they assemble all of their friends from other jobs (and other sequels) to pull off the ultimate job to steal $100 million dollars. Can they pull off the heist to end all heists? My sources tell me that Diesel is already hard at work making two more sequels back to back. More on this as it develops.
