GREENE – Greene was deadly accurate with its shots on goal Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Section IV playoffs.

The Trojans scored five times on just seven shots to move past the Indians in a high-scoring matchup.

Alex Leone finished with a hat trick to lead the Greene attack, and leading scorer Alex Driscoll tallied twice to bring his season total to 32 goals. Greene returns to sectional play Saturday at 2 p.m. when it faces either Spencer-Van Etten or Groton.

SHERBURNE – Against defending Class B state champion Skaneateles Wednesday, Sherburne-Earlville (8-7-2) was eliminated from Section III postseason play.

Tyler Strods and Alex Brownlee had two goals apiece for Skaneateles, who led 4-0 at the halftime break. “They play all of their non-league games against double AA schools, and they lost all of those games,” said S-E coach Mike Rodriguez in explaining why his team had the home-field advantage. “They did well in their league this year, and they were certainly tested against some really good teams.”
