UV Bests Norwich In Tourney Consolation Game

NEW BERLIN – In the consolation game of the New York Pizzeria Tournament, UV sophomore Taylor Davis scored two second-half goals leading the Storm to a comeback victory Wednesday afternoon.

Davis scored the tying goal with 23 minutes left, and netted the winner with seven minutes to play after receiving a long ball up the middle.

Norwich grabbed a 1-0 halftime lead when Alyssa MacIntosh connected on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box. UV (8-5-2) returns to action next week in the Section IV playoffs.

NEW BERLIN – Walton scored four goals in the first 20 minutes of the game, and cruised to a title win in the New York Pizzeria Tournament at New Berlin Wednesday.

Molly McGuire and Marissa Castillo had two goals apiece for the Warriors.

“We just weren’t prepared at the start, and I think the girls were shell-shocked,” said G-MU coach Tina Cole. “After those first four goals, we woke up and played our game. We started to pass and communicate well, and had ample opportunities to score.”
