Norwich Golfers Clinch Second Straight Division Title

Norwich 217, Susquehanna Valley 244

PLYMOUTH – Norwich’s golf team clinched the STAC Central Division for the second straight season beating Susquehanna Valley Tuesday at Canasawacta Country Club.

Eric Walling had birdies on the second and fifth holes, and finished with an even-par 36 over the C.C.C. front nine to earn overall medalist honors. “The course is playing soft and long, and (Eric’s) score is exceptional considering how difficult the course is playing,” said Norwich coach Bob Branham.

Ryan Hagen added a 42 for NHS (10-3), Corey Johnson carded a 44, Casey Marson shot a 46, and Rick Runyon turned in a 49.

Norwich hosts Owego Thursday.

Owego 3, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Norwich ran into a powerful Owego team Tuesday night losing in three games, 25-9, 25-10, 25-11.

Jess Kemmerling had eight kills, and Lauren Edwards picked up 19 assists. “Owego is a well-groomed team,” said Norwich coach Shelly Alger. “They all could attack and jump, and their serving won the match for them.”

Laura Zagada had eight digs for Norwich in the loss.
