Mobile Disaster Recovery Center comes to Southern Chenango

ALBANY – Federal and state emergency management officials announced today that a Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) will open in two locations in Chenango County on different dates to assist individuals, households and businesses affected by Tropical Storm Lee.

The MDRC in Chenango County will be open at the following locations on the following dates:

 • Afton, Oct. 6 to Oct. 8, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., New York 41 & Corner Caswell and Court Streets (Route 41), Parking Lot

• Bainbridge, Oct. 10 to Oct. 12, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 28 North Main Street, Municipal Parking Lot

The center will be staffed with disaster-recovery specialists who can provide information and answer questions about storm-related assistance, officials said.

“Before visiting the center, I strongly recommend people seeking assistance register with FEMA,” said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Philip E. Parr. “Having spoken with or contacted state or local officials does not count. You must register with FEMA in order to apply for help.”
