Oneonta Beats Norwich In Three Games

Oneonta 3, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Oneonta outlasted Norwich in an extra-long opening game, and went on to take all three games from the Tornado Thursday, 31-29, 25-12, 25-21.

Brittany Herrick had 12 kills and six blocks for the Yellowjackets, and Veronica Stamp led with five aces and 27 assists.

For Norwich, Laura Zagada had seven digs and three kills; Jaime Berger finsihed with five assists, and three aces, and Taylor Cook chalked up three kills, five blocks, and three digs. “Oneonta had a very strong attack that was hard for us to handle,” said Norwich coach Shelly Alger. “They have a young team that was strong in every position. We fought hard and didn’t give up.”

Oxford 3, Deposit 0

OXFORD – Oxford won its first match of the season Thursday night sweeping all three games from Deposit, 25-14, 25-18, 25-14.

Kera Shepler led Oxford with five kills, and Nicole Head finished with four aces and two assists. The Blackhawks host Unatego on Sept. 19.
