Unadilla Valley 2, Oxford 1
NEW BERLIN – Coming off an overtime tie the night before, Unadilla Valley bounced back with a comeback win over Oxford Wednesday.
Taylor Davis tied the game for UV 15 minutes into the second half when she broke through the Oxford defense to score unassisted. In the game’s final 12 minutes, Jennifer Elliott picked up a loose ball in the penalty area, and tucked away the game-winner.
“It seems like we’ve been a second-half team, and we came out and played a better second half tonight,” said UV coach Janelle Ross. “I think we were a little complacent early in the game and stabbing at the ball. Oxford made a couple of nice passes, and just beat our goalie.”
Oxford’s goal came just 2:39 into play when Emily Smith fed Jessica Russo on a through ball for a one-on-one breakaway tally.
UV returns to action Friday when it hosts Unatego.

Oneonta 8, Norwich 0
ONEONTA – Oneonta did most of its offensive damage in the first half scoring six goals, and eight different Yellowjackets tallied in a shutout win over Norwich.
Taryn Moore, Karsen Schultz, and Mariah Ruff each had one goal and one assist for Oneonta. “When we put pressure and doubled up the person who scored, another person would come forward and score,” said Norwich coach Dianne Fiorina. “We played well in the second half, and it wasn’t like they let up on us.”
Fiorina praised the all-around defensive play of Taylor Hagenbuch and Kayla Hughes. “Those two played a heck of a game,” Fiorina said.
Norwich hosts Chenango Valley Friday and G-MU on Saturday.
