Strong second half lifts UV past Oxford

Unadilla Valley 2, Oxford 1

NEW BERLIN – Coming off an overtime tie the night before, Unadilla Valley bounced back with a comeback win over Oxford Wednesday.

Taylor Davis tied the game for UV 15 minutes into the second half when she broke through the Oxford defense to score unassisted. In the game’s final 12 minutes, Jennifer Elliott picked up a loose ball in the penalty area, and tucked away the game-winner.

“It seems like we’ve been a second-half team, and we came out and played a better second half tonight,” said UV coach Janelle Ross. “I think we were a little complacent early in the game and stabbing at the ball. Oxford made a couple of nice passes, and just beat our goalie.”
