NPD’s Burlison promoted to Deputy Chief

NORWICH – Scott Burlison became the Norwich City Police’s newest deputy chief last night during a promotion ceremony held at the City of Norwich Common Council meeting.

Burlison, a 15-year veteran of the city police department, previously held the rank of first sergeant. In order to qualify for the promotion, he had to pass what Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino called a “grueling” civil service exam, covering all aspects of police work.

But according to the chief, it isn’t an exam score alone which makes Burlison an ideal choice for the deputy chief position.

“I have full faith and trust in him,” Angelino said.

The chief complimented Burlison on his supervisory style and his attention to detail.

“He’s somebody the officers look up to,” he reported. “His demeanor commands respect.”
