NORWICH – For nearly three decades, the Our Daily Bread Food Closet – located at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 37 West Main Street – has served Chenango County and its communities by providing food to those in need, from 10 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 5 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Sponsored by a number of area churches – including the United Church of Christ, Broad Street United Methodist, First Baptist and the Emmanuel Episcopal Church – the food pantry benifits from the support of approximately two dozen volunteers.

According to District Rector Chuck Taylor and UCC Pastor Joseph Connolly, the pantry is currently looking to fill several key volunteer positions: a desk person, pantry closet packer and truck crew.

• The desk person position requires volunteers to greet and welcome clients, assist them in completing intake forms and verifying family members, as well as choosing whichever bonus items they’d prefer for their food packages.
