NORWICH – On Friday, a pair of local teens will perform in the final round of the 3rd annual Central New York Radio Group Jr. Idol competition, to be held at 7 p.m. at the Oneonta Theater, 47 Chestnut St.

Shannon Stark and Kaitlyn Jackson will vie for the top spot tomorrow night, Stark in the 17 to 20 year old age category and Jackson in the 13 to 16. Both have survived two rounds of intense competition so far, and said they don’t expect things to get any easier in round three.

“There’s a lot of great talent and it’s definitely more of a challenge this year,” said Stark, who placed second overall at last year’s competition. “I’m hoping this year to finally bring it home.”

Jackson agreed and added that – while the competition hasn’t been easy – it’s been a positive experience and a lot of fun. A local favorite in her own right, the 13-year-old singer is preparing to release her debut album this summer. At this point, she said she’s simply taking every opportunity she can to get out there on the stage and perform.
