Chenango declares State of Emergency

Chairman Richard B. Decker of the Chenango County Board of Supervisors has issued a State of Emergency for Chenango County. A travel advisory has been issued for all roads in Chenango County, as a result of the thunderstorm from last evening. The roadways and County Office Building are still open, but caution is encouraged while traveling. According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, another major storm front is expected to impact the county later today.

Motorists are urged to travel with extreme caution as they travel throughout the day. There are many local, county and state roads that are impacted by flowing water and debris. Some roadways may be closed locally or even down to one lane in flooded areas.

Motorists are reminded not to drive through standing water or handle downed trees or power lines.
