NORWICH – Performers of all ages will have a chance to show off their skills as the Norwich Theater Company Inc., will host its first-ever Talent Show at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Chenango County Council of the Arts’ Martin W. Kappel Theater, 27 West Main Street.

Formed in September of 2010, the members of the Norwich Theater Company organized the Talent Show in an effort to raise funds for its fall production of Irving Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun,” according to Carolyn McMaster, who will direct the classic musical.

The Talent Show will feature three categories – vocal, dance and variety – and three age groups – six to twelve, thirteen to eighteen and adult, said McMaster. Prizes, donated by local merchants, will be awarded in each category and age group, she added, and there will be a special cash prize for the People’s Choice Award. The competition will be judged by a panel of local celebrities, to be announced.

“We want to put on a variety of different kinds of theater, not just one or two big productions a year, which makes us kind of unique,” stated McMaster of the fledgling theater company. “Annie Get Your Gun is a grand, grand production and it’s a very popular show.”
