Greene 7, Deposit 0
GREENE – Greene remained unbeaten and unscored on through three games blanking Deposit Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans scored three runs in each of the first three innings to support winning pitcher Rebecca Hanrahan. Hanrahan had a two-out triple in the opening inning to score Taylor Ellis, and the junior pitcher finished 3-for-4. Caitlin Willis and Brittany Youngs each had 2-for-4 days with a run scoresd apiece.
Hanrahan struck out eight, did not walk a batter, and allowed one hit in the opening inning. “We’re hitting the ball better early in games better than we have the last couple of years,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “The offense and defense are jelling pretty well right now.”
Greene plays at Afton today.

Chenango Valley 10, Norwich 0
FENTON – Defending state champion Chenango Valley pulled away from Norwich scoring six runs in the sixth – all unearned – in a shutout of the Tornado Wednesday.
The first three Warriors batters in the sixth reached on errors, and the next four batters all collected basehits. Brianna Stinson’s two-run triple capped the big inning for CV. Stinson finished 2-for-3 with three RBI. Winning pitcher Taylor Hendrickson allowed just one Norwich hit, a single in the fourth to Tornado junior Shelby Condon.
“Hendrickson is by far the best pitcher I’ve seen the last two years,” said Norwich coach Dennis Eaton. “We put the ball in play and bunted it, CV is just just a sound defensive team.”
Norwich pitcher Jamie Berger allowed just two CV hits through five innings. She finished with six strikeouts and four walks.
Norwich hosts Chenango Forks today and hosts G-MU and Oxford on Saturday in a round-robin format. Games on Saturday are tentatively slated for 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.
