GREENE – The number of After School Programs operated by the Norwich Family YMCA will increase to three as of today, when it opens a program at the Greene Central School District.
“We are excited to welcome the YMCA to Greene,” said the district’s superintendent, Jonathan Retz. “This will be a valuable service to many of our families.”
YMCA Executive Director Jamey Mullen said he was pleased with the support they have received from both the community and the district so far.
“The Norwich Family YMCA is excited to be offering an additional childcare option to local families in Greene,” he said.
According to YMCA Youth and Family Director Bonnie Tiffany, the Y was prompted to create the after school program after the closure of Greene Cares. The non-profit program, which provided after-school care to students for 26 years, closed in late December because of financial reasons.
