NORWICH – A convicted sex offender was sentenced to two years in state prison Friday after probation officers discovered he was hiding e-mail and social networking identities.

Domineco R. Spinella, 28, Borden Ave., pleaded guilty second degree criminal sexual act, a Class D felony, Jan. 5, 2009, admitting he had engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl at the time. Spinella was originally sentenced to six months in the jail, 10 years probation and was deemed a level two sex offender

Chenango Judge W. Howard Sullivan said a report from the probation department claimed Spinella was using an alias to operate a Facebook and e-mail account under an assumed name.

District Attorney Joseph McBride said the original charges did not involve using the Internet, but the plea deal forbade any online access.
