OXFORD – On Alumni Night, Oxford brought home a convincing victory losing just two matches on the mat.

Jody Smith set the tone for the Blackhawks in the opening bout rallying from a 5-0 deficit and a near fall to edge the Warriors’ James Copeland in overtime, 11-9. Smith used a cradle for two back points late in the third period, and earned the takedown – his only takedown of the match – to secure the win. Two bouts later, Clayton Audette (152) initiated a string of victories highlighted by pins from Joe Jackson at 160 and Caleb Cutting at 171. Other than giving up forfeits at 189 and 285 pounds, the Blackhawks won six straight contested matches as once-beaten Joe Nelson (96) and Austin Crandall (103) won decisions, and Jeremiah Winter (112) added a first-period pinfall. Nik Hansen (125) and Devin Depew (135) wrapped up the dual meet victory with sticks of their Walton opposition.

Oxford travels to Cazenovia on Saturday and visits Marathon on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
