Greene Dialed In For State Semifinals Tilt

Last year’s field hockey state championship game was a blur for Greene head coach Sue Carlin. In that game, the Trojans scored in the first half, and went on to blank Section I’s Mamaroneck, 1-0.

That was the sixth state title for Greene, and tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, Greene (18-0) will put its unbeaten record on the line in a rematch of last year’s championship clash. The Tigers (18-2-1) advanced out of the regional finals last Saturday defeating Kingston, 2-1 to return to the state semifinals.

Carlin remembered little of her encounter with the Tigers a year ago, but was fortunate that a parent in attendance videotaped the win. “I watched the game earlier this week to see their corners and if anything else might be useful for this game,” Carlin said.

What did Carlin actually learn from the video? “Wow, we played pretty well,” she said.
