Greene dialed in for state semifinals tilt

Last year’s field hockey state championship game was a blur for Greene head coach Sue Carlin. In that game, the Trojans scored in the first half, and went on to blank Section I’s Mamaroneck, 1-0.

That was the sixth state title for Greene, and tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, Greene (18-0) will put its unbeaten record on the line in a rematch of last year’s championship clash. The Tigers (18-2-1) advanced out of the regional finals last Saturday defeating Kingston, 2-1 to return to the state semifinals.

Carlin remembered little of her encounter with the Tigers a year ago, but was fortunate that a parent in attendance videotaped the win. “I watched the game earlier this week to see their corners and if anything else might be useful for this game,” Carlin said.
