Public hearing to address Rt. 12 rehabilitation project in Greene

GREENE – The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a second public hearing to discuss proposed improvements to a 5.5-mile segment of state Route 12 from just south of Genegantslet Road (county Rt. 2) to just north of Harbor Road (county Rt. 3A) in Chenango County.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Greene High School auditorium, 40 South Canal St.

The hearing is necessary due to modifications made during the project’s design phase and subsequent additional property acquisitions.

The primary project objective of the project is to address the pavement, safety, and drainage, using cost-effective strategies to extend the useful life of the roadway. Secondary objectives are to implement Rt. 12 corridor recommendations, along with additional turning and passing lanes where practical, to improve reliability and mobility.
