NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado Marching Band finished strong in its final performance prior to Sunday’s New York State Field Band Conference Championship at the Carrier Dome, Syracuse. A score of 83.50 awarded the band a second place finish behind East Syracuse-Minoa (86.70) and ahead of Jordan-Elbridge (81.55). It was the band’s third straight second place finish in Small School Division III competition.

“The kids did a great job this weekend and their focus is intense heading into the dome,” said Purple Tornado Marching Band Assistant Director Chris Calhoun. “We’d like to thank the Norwich Family YMCA and its patrons for their wonderful support and for letting us use their facilities throughout this week.”

In addition, the Purple Tornado Marching Band will perform for free, in uniform, at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the YMCA. The band’s championship performance will take place at approximately 6:37 p.m. on Sunday at the Syracuse Carrier Dome, according to the New York State Field Band Conference Championship schedule.
