Oxford 2, Norwich 1
OXFORD – Oxford advanced to the finals of its own tournament getting the game-winning goal from Haley Witchella Thursday night against Norwich.
Witchella gathered a pass with her back to the goal, turned, and hit a soft shot into the left corner with 10:02 left in the game.
Norwich had tied the game just 6 1/2 minutes earlier when Alyssa MacIntosh tallied for the Tornado. “Our possession game was better today, and Norwich did a good job too,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle, who played in high school for Norwich coach Dianne Fiorina at South New Berlin. “She gave me a big hug after the game, and told me it was kind of like she won too.”
Teresa Morrison scored unassisted 8:36 into the second half to give Oxford the initial lead. The Blackhawks (2-3-1) will play the winner of Unatego and Greene on Saturday at 7 p.m.
