GREENE – Bicycle safety will be the primary focus of a free Bike Rodeo sponsored this weekend by the Village of Greene Police Department and Cub Scout Pack 162.

“Bike safety is very important for our youth because it teaches them the importance of safety equipment and to respect the dangers involved in riding their bikes in a municipality where vehicles will be sharing some of the same roadways with them,” said Greene Police Chief Steve Dutcher.

Dutcher and Patrolman Scott Hubbard will be on hand for the event, which will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Great American Parking Lot in Greene. Registration opens at 12:30 p.m.

According to Den Leader Kellie Gyurik, participants must be accompanied by an adult, and should come with their bike and helmet. All children ages 4 to 12 are eligible to attend the bike safety rodeo, which is being offered free of charge.
