Seiler qualifies for state team

ITHACA Oxford senior golfer Cory Seiler became the first Oxford golfer to qualify for the Section IV state team in 10 years posting a two-round total of 158 (76-82) to place fifth out of the 21 participants, Saturday at Cornell University Golf Course.

Seiler missed the cut a year ago by one stroke, but was easily within the top-nine qualifiers in his last attempt at qualifying.

The conditions were really tough and the wind was difficult to say the least, said Oxford coach Tim Paden. I would have been tickled with an 82.

Seiler follows in the footsteps of 2000 Oxford grad Chad Bradley, who made the Section IV team in back-to-back years (1999-2000), and Bradley was the last Chenango County linkster to earn a spot among Section IVs best.
