S-E 9, Mount Markham 4

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville won its first Center State Conference division game of the season banging out 17 hits in Friday’s victory over Mount Markham.

Jobie Gates was a perfect 4-for-4 with a two-run double in the fourth. Carter Cole went 3-for-4, and winning pitcher Mike Wilson drove in two runs.

“We had some good timely hitting today,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks, who praised winning pitcher Wilson. “This was a big win for Mike. He kept the ball down, and had a lot of ground-ball outs.”

Corey Musician went 2-for-2 for S-E, and Jake Bohnert had two hits and one RBI.

S-E (3-7) plays at Sauquoit Valley today.

Oxford 9, Deposit 3

OXFORD – Derrick Head pitched six strong innings in his best outing of the season, and Oxford finished out the week with back-to-back victories.

Jamie Smolcnop and Andrew Golden were each hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Oxford’s first two runs in the second, and a third run was added with a walk.
