Sidney 9, Greene 4
GREENE – Greene ran the basepaths virtually unfettered stealing 14 bases against the Trojans in Wednesday’s victory.
Four of the Warriors’ eight hits were of the infield variety, and six of the runs scored came after drawing walks or reaching on an infield hit.
“We were very flat from the start, and were just outhustled tonight,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “They put pressure on us with their running game, and we didn’t respond nearly as well as I hoped. It’s disappointing because we have been playing good baseball, and I know we’re better. I feel the kids will bounce back tomorrow.”
Andy Kozak had three hits for Sidney, and Nate McDonald went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Sidney will entertain Greene (7-3) today.

Afton 16, Oxford 2
AFTON – In the first of back-to-back games with Oxford this week, Afton put a stamp on its victory Wednesday scoring nine runs in the bottom of the sixth.
In their final at-bat, the Crimson Knights put together the big inning with only three hits. They were aided by six walks, two Oxford errors, and one hit batsmen.
Adam Rupakus tossed a complete-game victory striking out eight, walking one, and allowing six Oxford hits. Rupakus was backed by error-free defense. “Everything came together today,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp. “We did capitalize on mistakes, but we made nice plays in the field, and Adam pitched well.”
Rupakus and Corey Mohrein paced the Afton batters with 2-for-3 days.
