Greene wins behind strong pitching of Kinne

Greene 2, Delhi 0

GREENE – Greene senior Brendan Kinne used just 69 pitches to throw a complete-game two-hit shutout in Tuesday’s clash with MAC division opponent Delhi.

Kinne struck out three, walked two, and was buoyed by his defense. The Trojans completed two double plays, and did not commit an error. “Brendan was really in the zone,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “He had great control tonight. He threw hard, threw strikes, and had enough of a breaking ball to keep the hitters off balance.”

In the fifth, the Trojans (7-2) plated two unearned runs for Kinne. Matt Jones and Kinne reached safely on errors, and Alex Kenyon doubled home each baserunner.

AFTON – Cole Dufton held Afton scoreless until the sixth inning, and twirled a complete-game victory for the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Tom Banicky had a two-run triple and finished 2-for-3 to pace Hancock. Cody Wellman had five stolen bases and scored three runs. As a team, Hancock had eight stolen bases. “The stolen bases were timely, and they were also putting runners in scoring position,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp.

Adam Rupakus went 3-for-4 on the Afton side of the ledger.
