'Pinwheels for Prevention' takes aim at child abuse

NORWICH – In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Chenango County Child Advocacy and Crime Victims Programs, in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse New York, have announced their “Pinwheels for Prevention” campaign.

Children from both the BOCES and Children’s Center daycare facilities will take part in the campaign, constructing the pinwheels which, according to Domestic Violence/Crime Victims Program Director Dan Auwarter, “symbolize a happy childhood and our responsibility as leaders to prevent child abuse.”

According to Prevent Child Abuse New York, the pinwheel is “reflective of the bright future all children deserve and our belief that getting it right early on is less costly than trying to fix it later.”

Pinwheels for Prevention will continue throughout the month of April, and pinwheels will be on display at several locations including the BOCES and Children’s Center daycare facilities. For more information visit www.preventchildabuseny.org.
