GREENE – It was only a matter of time before Greene’s offense began to click.
Leading Walton by just a goal at halftime thanks to the stellar defense of Warriors keeper Brooke Spencer, the Trojans’ prolific offense used relentless pressure and pinpoint passing to tally three more times and win the first MAC championship game, 4-0 at George Raymond Field Thursday evening.
“We talked at halftime about making adjustments as far as the passing game went,” said Greene head coach Sue Carlin. “The kids recognized that, and once we got the combinations going… .”
Spencer warded off 12 first-half shots, and the only one that got by her was a strong drive following a rebound by Trojans junior Andrea Day at the 13:38 mark.
