Sunlight glare causes Monday accident

NORWICH – Crews from the Norwich City Police and Fire Departments responded to a low speed collision that was caused by the low hanging sun over West Hill Monday evening.

Police issued no tickets and no one was injured in the two-car crash that took place at around 4:17 p.m. A PT Cruiser heading west on West Main St. began making a right turn onto Mills St. in the glaring sun light which blinded the driver’s view of an oncoming pick up truck coming across the West Main Street bridge.

The two vehicles avoided a direct crash and struck on the driver’s fender side of both. The pick-up lost a tire as a result of the impact and careened into a nearby no-parking sign.
