Hoffman appointed as Guilford Town Clerk

GUILFORD – Long-time Guilford resident Gail Hoffman has been appointed town clerk to serve out the remainder of the term in the position from which Barbara Strier has resigned.

Hoffman, who has lived in the town for most of her life, has more than 20 years of experience in accounting. She served for 18 years as assistant comptroller of Sidney Hospital before leaving that organization to join the Chenango County Chamber of Commerce as finance director. In 2007, she left that position to start her own business, GH Accounting, which she operates out of her Guilford home.

Hoffman was selected as Strier’s replacement by the town board in December, shortly after the town clerk announced she would be leaving her position for an opening in the Chenango County Treasurer’s Office. Hoffman was appointed as deputy town clerk on December 10 and, for the past five months, has worked alongside her predecessor to learn the duties of the position.
