NORWICH – Oneonta’s boys dominated the sprinting events, and the Yellowjackets’ girls won five of six field events in a sweep of the Purple Tornado squads Tuesday at Norwich High School.

Mike Reilly (110, 400 hurdles), along with Steven Spittler (800, 1,600 meters) came home with a pair of wins to lead NHS.

Meanwhile, Oneonta swept the 100-meter dash and finished one-two in the 200-meter race to help build its lead.

Sarah Bonnell’s four overall first-place finishes paced Norwich’s girls, who captured seven of the 11 running events. Kayla May added three victories for Norwich including a sweep of the two hurdles events.

“They swept the 3,000 meters and the triple jump, that was the difference in the girls’ meet,” said Norwich co-head coach, Paul Sims.

Norwich runs at the Owego Invitational on Saturday.
