Chamber Urges Businesses To Take Action Against Proposed Taxes

NORWICH – Despite an agreement between Governor David Paterson and legislative leaders in Albany to eliminate $1.3 billion in proposed taxes, New Yorkers could still face $3 billion in new taxes, according to a legislative alert issued yesterday by Commerce Chenango.

“The bottom line is these proposed taxes put our businesses at risk and with that the jobs they have to offer,” said Commerce Chenango President Maureen Carpenter. Her organization has joined with the Business Council of New York to urge local business leaders to make their voices heard in Albany about proposed taxes on health insurance, life insurance, energy utilities and telecommunications providers.
