BROOKFIELD – Otselic Valley won its second four-goal shutout this week on the road against Brookfield Wednesday.

Adam Duell David Cerasani and Dusty Davis tallied in the first half for the Vikings (7-3, 9-5). “We passed and moved the ball better today than we have in some time,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “It was a small field, but we controlled play. There are stretches in games where we don’t control the ball, but tonight we did a good job of maintaining possession and moving without the ball.”

Nate Stark had OV’s lone tally in the second half.

NORWICH – Mike Spadine broke loose of the Norwich defense scoring four goals – three in the first half – to pace the Indians Wednesday.

“We identified (Spadine) as the guy that has killed us before,” said Norwich coach John McCumiskey. “For some reason, we left him to play another guy, and he would get the ball back, take it in, and shoot.”

Norwich plays Greene Friday at 5 p.m. in the Oxford Blackhawks Tournament.

Owego 2, Norwich 1

OWEGO – Owego scored its only tallies in the first 13 minutes of the game, and staved off Norwich in a home win Wednesday.

Julia Pulford put the Indians on the board at nine minutes, and Lindsay Schneider upped the lead just four minutes later.

Norwich’s Sarah Bonnell scored in the second half with an assist from Jamie Nassar. Norwich plays Greene today at 5 p.m. in the Oxford Tournament.

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley beat the Bobcats for the second time in three meetings, and Wednesday’s was its most impressive win of the lot.

Amanda Peek and Kate Fagan scored in the first half – Fagan assisting on Peek’s goal – for the two-goal halftime advantage.

Emily Sugar, normally the Storm’s goal keeper, saw field time and tallied her first goal of the season. Hannah Johnson’s direct kick hit a goal post, and Sugar capitalized to tuck the ball away with 6 1/2 minutes left. “We distributed the ball and the scoring, and the defense worked hard. It was a great team win,” said UV coach Chris Bieniek.

UV hosts Walton at 7 p.m. Friday night.

SAUQUOIT – In a showdown for first place in Center State Conference division play, Sauquoit Valley built a three-goal lead, and hung on to defeat the Marauders (8-5-2) Wednesday.

Sierra Kiss and Meghan Gaffney scored two goals over the first 8 1/2 minutes of the second half to up a one-goal halftime lead to three. Bridget Irwin tallied S-E’s first goal at 20 minutes, and Gzam Kocak drew the Marauders to within one in the final two minutes.
