Chenango County 4-H Week kicks off with 4-H Achievement Day

CHENANGO COUNTY – On Sunday, Chenango County 4-H members gathered and brought with them steaming crock pots, cheesy casseroles, and younger siblings. The annual 4-H Achievement Day celebration kicked-off National 4-H Week in Chenango County. An estimated one hundred 4-H parents, volunteers and members gathered to recognize clubs and members for their accomplishments throughout the 2007-2008 project record year. Soon after a delicious dish-to-pass meal, the awards ceremony began.

Brian Graham received the Otis A. Thompson 4-H Leadership plaque and Katy Kemmeren received Frank E. Skinner 4-H Leadership Plaque for outstanding project work and demonstration of leadership qualities and abilities throughout their 4-H career. Achievement Plaques are given to 4-H members for outstanding project work and overall accomplishments. Noah Ives was awarded the Warren E. Eaton 4-H Achievement Plaque and Kassie Abrams was awarded the J.C. Estelow 4-H Achievement Plaque for 2007-2008



This year’s Top Promotional Club, Hidden Ponds Horse Lovers Club, received a trophy for their participation in displays and community activities (such as floats and parades) that promote 4-H. The Al and Thelma Evans Top County Fair Club Award went to the club with the most in-depth participation at the Chenango County Fair. The 2007-2008 Recipient club was the Chenango County 4-H Livestock Club
