Dems tap McNeil as party chair

CHENANGO COUNTY – The Chenango County Democratic Committee held its reorganizational meeting Wednesday night and named Patrick McNeil chairman.

McNeil, who has been a member of the County Democratic Committee for the past 20 years, has held the position of second vice chair in the past.

“When the past chair decided not to circulate petitions this year, I made some calls and decided I wanted to be a candidate,” he said.

The previous party chair was Catherine Ulfik, who led the committee for 11 years.

“I’m looking forward to serving the committee,” McNeil said. The new committee leader said he has seen renewed energy in the Democratic party this year. “There is a great deal of enthusiasm out there. We’re going to do well.”
